Released at last. The first day story.
So, I finally did it and released my album, Journey through the Mind's Eye, at 12.01am on Friday the 1st of May 2020. It was a huge deal for me, the culmination of 6 weeks of intense writing and mixing, often putting in 18 hour days. I still marvel at what I actually acheived. I wrote the album in 5 weeks and spent a week mixing it down. I've had to learn from scratch how to design and build a website, set up a crowdfunding campaign and create artwork. A lot of steep learning curves which I've had to surmount very quickly.
So, was it worth it? Absolutely yes! My crowdfunder raised some funds which was amazing. I thank my donors from the bottom of my heart. You have no idea what a difference your donations will make. I do plan to thank you personally but wanted to also thank you publicly.
I also got some invaluable feedback. All of it was, I'm delighted to say, positive. It is a lovely feeling to know that people are enjoying the fruits of my labour. It makes it all worthwhile.
If you haven't heard the album yet, it's available on Youtube and a high-quality audio file can be downloaded from this site. Please have a listen. I created it for you! There are certainly far worse ways to spend 45 minutes of this interminable lockdown. You could be watching reruns on the TV or avoiding those jobs you meant to do -or- you could pour yourself a glass of wine and relax in my world for a while. Interestingly, it's been pointed out that the music can have a soporific effect so perhaps I should add a disclaimer - Do not listen while driving or operating heavy machinery :).
If you can't afford to donate, that's absolutely fine but I would appreciate some feedback. You can PM me on my Facebook account (use the link at the top of the page) and leave me a testimonial if you like it or, if you hate it, let me know why. I am planning another 5 albums in this series and would hate to replicate mistakes.
Thank you for reading (if you got this far), stay safe and please, stay at home.
